OK, Brad,

You persuaded me to try it myself and it did not work the way I had
expected. With two schematics open and tiled, focus does not follow the
cursor. It will not help you.
This is different from the behaviour I see in other applications such as
Mozilla Thunderbird which has three panes open at any time and the
scrolling action of the scrollwheel applies to whichever pane the cursor
is in at the time. In the case of composing this email, by moving to the
left, I can scroll through my address book or back in the composition
pane I can scroll up through the quoted history - no clicking - and
typing continues to add to this email wherever the cursor lies unless I
move it outside the entire 'Compose' window or click in another pane. I
like the way this works although, as Don pointed out, there may be some
hidden traps.
