Discussion Groups
Membership to any of the forums is open  to anyone that abides by the guidelines and rules set forth on this page.

The Protel EDA Forum
Chances are this is the forum that will interest you most. It's a technical forum where the discussions are restricted to Protel software, related EDA software, and design techniques.

Any other topic of discussion is not appropriate and is not permitted on this forum. If you're not sure that your posting would fit within the guidelines, then it probably should be posted in the Open Topic Forum. If you're still not sure, submit it to for approval before posting.

The Protel Developers Forum
This is also a technical forum.  This forum is much smaller and the posts are less frequent than others, but the information available here is invaluable for anyone developing 3rd party add-ons or scripting a productivity booster. The Open Topic Forum
This is an unstructured forum. Topics for discussion on this list have fewer restrictions than the other lists which are hosted here. If your discussion doesn't fit within the limitations of the other forums, then this is probably the place for it.

A few examples of past threads that would be appropriate in the Open Topic Forum; operating  systems pros & cons, virus alerts, debates about the direction of the next software release, upcoming trade shows and industry events, mergers and buyouts of EDA companies, or even comments about the forums themselves or these web pages.

Limited paid advertising is available to vendors of EDA related products. See the Forum Advertising page for details on placing an advertisement.

Forum Rules
You must read, understand, and agree to abide by the following rules before you may join any forum.

  • The "Forum Administrator" is the manager of all forums and has final authority in their operation. Forum subscribers have the responsibility of reading all messages posted by the Forum Administrator (

  • Follow guidelines and designated topics for each forum as defined on this web page. If there doesn't seem to be a forum that is appropriate for your topic, post the message on the Open Topic forum or request a new forum from the Forum Administrator
  • Do not post test messages to any discussion forum. If you have questions about the status of your membership account or the status of a forum, visit the Status Page on this website or email your questions to the Forum Administrator.
  • Be courteous and do not discourage others from using any forum. If a discussion becomes heated, drop it or take it offline. Remember that everything you post is sent to hundreds of subscribers and stored on just as many computers and networks. Email posts are NOT temporary, they are accessible for many years into the future. consider this before posting any message.
  • Subscribing an email account other than your own individual account is not permitted.
  • The gathering of personal information about users or members of the forums is not permitted for any purpose other than replying the messages posted on these forums. Personal information includes but is not limited to names, email addresses, telephone numbers, postal addresses and other contact information.
  • Mirroring, reposting, or archiving the forums on any public site is not permitted without the written permission of TechServ.
  • Unauthorized advertising is not allowed on any of the email forums. This pertains to unsolicited promotional announcements for products and services including announcements of "freebies" by any commercial vendor.
